What could a just energy future look like if we put people, meaningful community participation and authority at its centre? And what will it take to get there?
Join the JustRE Alliance (JRA) for the premiere of A FutuRE in Progress – a short film that brings together real-world stories and experiences with an imagined vision of 2050, exploring what a just and inclusive renewable energy future could look like.
Travelling across different geographies, the film brings together diverse experiences of renewable energy development, from the challenges and tensions communities face today to the approaches and opportunities that could help shape a different future.
Through real footage, interviews, evidence and AI-generated visions of 2050, it invites us to consider what might be possible if we put the lessons we are learning into practice.
Join us for the premiere
You are invited to the live online launch of A FutuRE in Progress. The 90-minute webinar will feature the premiere of the short film, followed by a moderated conversation with JRA Steering Committee members and an opportunity for audience questions and discussion.
Together we will reflect on the experiences and ideas explored in the film, consider what they mean for the future of renewable energy, and exchange perspectives on how we can put these lessons into practice.
Take the conversation into your own work
A FutuRE in Progress is intended as a resource for the wider renewable energy ecosystem. This film can help to open conversations, support learning and bring different perspectives into discussions about the energy transition.
During the launch, we will explore how you can use the film in your own work, whether to stimulate discussions, inform workshops and training or encourage new thinking about participation, decision-making, land rights and benefit-sharing.
Following the premiere, the film will be made publicly available for you to share and use in your own work. We hope it will help connect people across geographies, inspire collective learning and encourage action towards a just energy future.
